Byron, Knightsen, & Bethel Island

As you head east on Highway 4 from Brentwood towards Stockton you'll come to a junction in the road at J4.
If you're going to be working in the Livermore, Pleasanton or San Ramon and you want a rural area Byron may be your calling. Small Ranchetts and larger farms and ranches are predominant. There is also a small county airport which will grow in the next 20 years to become the Contra Costa's second big airport. Only 10 minutes to launch a boat at Discovery Bay or play a round of golf; Byron is tiny now but it won't be for long.
Knightsen is also a rural community. Mostly ranches and farms. Small parcels are around 2 acres with larger ground sites available from time to time in large acre plots. The photo of Mt. Diablo above was taken just about 1/2 mile from this spot.
Twenty minutes to Antioch and Forty five to Walnut Creek. The pace in Knightsen is slow and easy. Like Byron, expected growth in the next 20 years to change things dramatically.
If you like boating and a casual atmosphere; welcome to Bethel Island. Unlike most islands as we think of them this one is protected by levees. The island is below water level but generally not to worry; many of the homes are raised up on piers. On any given sunny summer day you'll see hundreds of boats going by. On the island you'll find everything from Condos to Ranches. There is also an 18 hole golf course, fishing, water skiing & houseboating. Here too the pace of life is easy.
